Two eras of defence at Parker's Corner
The house, currently named 'Humblebee', was an observation post in WWII, which presumably accounts for the strange looking extension on the north (near) side with a high level circular window. Nearer, in the field, is an underground nuclear observation bunker from the cold war era. Its access shaft is reportedly now blocked with rubble.

View of Southend from Homewards Road
Because it is narrow with no passing places, Homewards Road is one way from where it leaves Ratcliffe Highway to where it rejoins Ratcliffe Highway on the outskirts of Allhallows. It is tempting to stop though since, as can be seen here, there are fine views of the Thames Estuary and Southend.
