Conversion of South Eastern Hotel, 51, Station Road
Planning permission was approved, with conditions, by Medway Council under application number MC/16/5114 for the “retrospective change of use from Class use C3 (7x Flats) to C1 (18 bedroomed hotel) together with the conversion of pitched roof to mansard roof with dormer windows, internal alterations and extension of existing parapet wall”.

View towards Rochester
From Banks Road, overlooking the railway from Strood to Gravesend as it curves round to align with the tunnel to Higham to the right. This was built for a canal to Gravesend, which took a straight line out of the tunnel (followed by the houses at left) to enter the Medway via a basin and lock.
