Queenborough: Queen Phillippa
At a first glance Queen Phillippa might seem like a strange name for a pub, until one realises it overlooks the site of the former Sheppey Castle built by King Edward III whose wife was Philippa of Hainault, and after whom the King named the town. Sadly the pub was boarded up in 2013, and looked unlikely to be able to celebrate the 700th birthday of the eponymous queen on 24 June 2014.
