Gnome Island
A big family of gnomes reside in the middle of the Manchester Ship Canal, which straddles the Salford/Trafford boundary.

Gnome Island, Manchester Ship Canal
Gnome Island is one of the derelict man-made concrete “islands” left behind from the old Manchester/Salford Docks. It has been home to a large group of jolly gnomes who have taken it over since the first gnome, Gnorman, arrived in 2017. It is located on the Salford side of the Ship Canal but all the gnomes are facing Trafford.

Gnomes of Gnome Island
Some of the gnomes inhabiting Gnome Island in the Manchester Ship Canal (Image]). Gnorman, the pioneer gnome who began the colony in 2017, is at the centre of the photo with his wife Gnorma, who moved onto the island with him later that year. They are flanked by their twin children, Gnoah and Gnatalie. Also in the picture are Gnorman's parents, Gnellie (extreme left) and Gnorbert (behind Gnatalie). Gnelson is on the extreme right; I don't know the names of the others.

Pomona, Stretford

Salford Quays, South Bay (Dock 6)
Salford Quays is the name given to the area of Salford which was previously the site of Manchester Docks, it became one of the first and largest urban regeneration projects in the United Kingdom following the closure of the dockyards in 1982.
This view is looking from the path behind Merchants Quay, across the former Dock 6 which was between Piers 5 and 6. It is now called "South Bay".

Clippers Quay
The Manchester Ship Canal viewed from Trafford Road Bridge. On the right 614 flats in five blocks are being developed on the site of the former UGC Multiplex Cinema at Clippers Quay. The old cinema which was the first multiplex in Greater Manchester and the second in the UK was opened by Cannon in December 1986. Later it was renamed MGM, Virgin and then UGC before it closed in 2001, laying derelict until demolished in 2015 http://cinematreasures.org/theaters/25895
