Bench mark alongside Ontario Basin
This bench mark is below street level next to steps down to Ontario Basin, formerly No.8 Dock. The mark is recorded on the 1891 Town Plans but is no longer on the Ordnance Survey database. The Salford docks were opened by Queen Victoria in 1894, so this mark must relate to the survey of the docks carried out when they were first built. See also Image

These steps are down to the water level at the north east corner of Ontario Basin, formerly No.8 Dock. There is an Ordnance Survey bench mark above the fourth step up and about 3 feet below street level - see: Image

No. 2 Grain Elevator - I refuse to die
This large grain elevator at the end of Dock No. 9 at Salford was built in 1915 and was indeed seen to be leaning at this crazy angle during demolition. It is now a distant memory and this area is part of Salford Quays.
