Manchester Metrolink tram no. 2003 near the Broadway tram stop, Salford Quays
The tram is approaching Broadway tram stop on its journey to Eccles. It is one of a batch of six, type T68a, supplied in 1999 by Firema of Italy (now part of the Ansaldo group) for use on the Eccles branch, which opened in 2000. With a huge batch of new trams currently being delivered by Bombardier, all the Firema trams will eventually have a major overhaul and internal refit. Update April 2017:- Subsequently the order for new trams was increased and all the Firema trams were withdrawn. Most, including 2003, were scrapped but a few still exist.

Tram from Media City
The short branch to Media City is only single track. Inbound trams have to travel for a short distance in the wrong direction on the Eccles line before crossing over, as seen here, to the correct inbound track.

Manchester Metrolink trackwork near Harbour City tram stop, Salford Quays
The trackwork includes a crossover, which is probably mainly intended for trams coming from the single track Media City extension to rejoin the "correct" running track for their journey to Cornbrook or Piccadilly. The tram stopped at Harbour City tram stop is No. 1022 en route for Piccadilly. Image Image
