Former police and fire station, Goulden Street, Manchester
'Former' being the operative word. Either directly or indirectly, as a result of a fire in 2002 the site has largely been cleared. The channelled chimney (perhaps saved by the listing) looms over the local grid of small streets mostly comprised of empty plots of land which have been turned into modest (and cheap) car parks, and low-rise sheds. Originally built c1870 by the Borough Surveyor, J.G. Lynde. Grade II listed.

Old Factory Building on Cable Street
This mid/late nineteenth century brick building, which runs along Chadderton Street between Cable Street and Addington Street, is a Grade II listed building (Historic England List Entry Number: 1208255 https://historicengland.org.uk/listing/the-list/list-entry/1208255 ). Once an umbrella factory (https://manchesterhistory.net/manchester/tours/tour16/area16page32.html Manchester History Net), the ground floor has been occupied in more recent times by the Manchester Chinese Christian Church http://www.manchesterccc.org.uk/?page_id=1629 whose name is still above the door on Cable Street although the building itself now looks rather dilapidated and deserted.
