Millstream Animal Shelter, Clayton Bridge, Manchester
Two pygmy goats at this small independent animal shelter in Manchester. Their names are Mack (right) and Mabel (left). Taken looking north towards Newton Heath. The River Medlock runs just south of the site.

Millstream Animal Shelter, Clayton Bridge, Manchester
Taken facing the main Ashton-under-Lyne to Manchester Victoria railway line as it runs over the viaduct through Clayton Bridge to Phillips Park. In view are some of the animals' pens and a storage barn (and the cosy loo . . . ). Usually there would be more cats about but on this day they wisely stayed where it was warmer. This is a small independent animal shelter (reg. Charity No. 702953).

Swampy valley opposite Brookdale Park
This was taken from Lord Lane where a crumbling iron fence no longer does its job of keeping people out. The boggy gully is full of fallen trees etc. and is quite a Godforsaken-looking area. What the photo doesn't show is that if you were tempted down into it to explore, the sides are so steep that it would be difficult to climb back out again.

Berry Brow
Looking in a southerly direction down Berry Brow, Failsworth. The trees beyond the level crossing are in Clayton Vale and grow alongside the River Medlock. The railway line connects Manchester with Ashton-under-Lyne. SJ88999966.
