Staffordshire Arm, Bridgewater Canal, Castlefield Junction
Once a warehouse covered these twin canal arms at the north end of the fan of basins. Now they are visitor moorings.

Potato Wharf
This oddly named street is adjacent to Canal basins at the original head of the Bridgewater Canal, and presumably derives from the fact that this is where agricultural produce for the city would arrive.

Castlefield Basin
The Castlefied Basin is centred on two arms of the Bridgewater Canal, shaped like a tuning fork, which allowed two barges at a time to enter the Staffordshire Warehouse to load and unload Image It was one of Castlefield's first warehouses, and around this huge building were sheds, offices and other warehouses. The warehouse has long gone and the basin is now used for short term mooring Image On the right is the Y Club Gym. The area on the left is used as an open-air event space. In the background are three nineteenth century railway viaducts crossing the Castlefield Basin.

Ian M Gall (1932-2005) memorial plaque
This plaque on a wall Image] at Castlefield Basin Image reads: This plaque is dedicated to the memory of IAN M. GALL 1932-2005 Ian and Eileen (his beloved wife) were known as Mr & Mrs Castlefield because of their constant campaigning for the redevelopment of the Castlefield Urban Heritage Park.
