Tramway at The Snipe Inn
The Snipe was always an important point on the original tramway between Manchester and Ashton, as it marked the boundary between the Manchester and Ashton tramway, and later trolleybus, networks. The new tramway passes the rear of the pub, rather than running in the main road as the old tramway did.

The Snipe
The Snipe Inn, on the left hand side of the road, is probably all that remains in this area from the 1960s. To the left, Ashton Moss has been covered with a motorway junction, link roads and industrial units. On the right, Moss Colliery (also known as Snipe Colliery) has been replaced by the Snipe Retail Park.

Audenshaw: The 'Snipe' Inn
This well-known public house was at one time a favoured short-turning point for Manchester and Ashton trolleybuses, which showed 'Audenshaw, The Snipe' on their blinds. It is a Robinson's tied house, and is well worth a visit for their excellent real ales - Hatters Mild is always available. About 3 minutes' walk east from Audenshaw Metrolink stop.
