Bloomin' Wonderful, Buttercups & Daisies
One of the community hats on the Hats Off To Denton Sculpture Trail in the window of Buttercups & Daisies florist on Manchester Road. Inspired by the vibrant and energetic young dancers at Gibsons Dance Academy, Bloomin' Wonderful is a nod to Alice in Wonderland. The children at Gibsons loved the flowers, patterns, colours and clocks in the story, which all feature as part of the design. This hat reflects a sense of adventure, the beauty of flowers and a bit of mystery, but most importantly the radiance and energy of the wonderful children at the academy. Gibsons Dance Academy has over 10 years of experience offering dance classes for children and adults of all ages in Denton. Each student at Gibsons Dance Academy is valued as an individual and encouraged to achieve their highest potential, with the aim of having fun, making friends and lifelong memories, whilst learning to dance and become a performer. The design is by Venessa Scott, a prolific public artist whose vibrant and joyful pattern based murals can be seen across the UK. Venessa also designed and painted one of the UK's tallest murals. When she is not adding colour to the walls of cities you can also find Venessa presenting art content for children on CBBC.

Denton Conservative Club
Denton Conservative Club on the corner of Gould Street, like the nearby Liberal club Image, is an early example of the use of Accrington Nori bricks, renowned for their quality, hardness, strength and durability. The foundation stone was laid on the 14 November 1891 by Ernest Frederic George Hatch Esquire (1859-1927) of London. On the 13 July 1895 he was elected as the Conservative Member of Parliament for the Gorton Constituency. He was a Member of Parliament until 12 January 1906 but towards the end of his parliamentary career he crossed the floor of the house to become a Liberal. Later he became Sir Ernest Frederic George Hatch 1st Baronet KBE. In 1892, the club was opened by Sir William Henry Houldsworth, MP for Reddish. The architect was Mr T D Lindley of Ashton-under-Lyne and it cost about £2,300 to build. By 1894 it had 350 members. The building has Dutch (or Flemish) gables on the Manchester Road and Gould Street sides, each having a brick moulding bearing the date, AD 1891, flanked by ball-style finials. The windows have Yorkshire stone lintels and cills.
