Opera House, Quay Street, Manchester
Not sure about the colour scheme, but full marks for effusiveness. Pevsner calls it "appropriately theatrical". It was built as the New Theatre, 1912, designed by Richardson & Gill with Farquarson. A pediment encompasses virtually the whole front, below which is a fine relief, "The Dawn of the Heroic Age", by John Tanner & Son. The whole facade is rusticated, the joints picked out in orange. Grade II listed.
