Metrolink Airport Line, Hollyhedge Road
After crossing the M56 Motorway, the tramway route shares Hollyhedge Road with road traffic towards Benchill. Here, Metrolink Bombardier tram 3080 is travelling towards Manchester Airport.

This tram, which was delivered to Metrolink on the 13th September 2014, is passing some shops in Hollyhedge Road. It is en route to the terminus at Manchester Airport. It is one of the current fleet of 120 M5000 class trams built by Bombardier and delivered between 2009 and 2016. Metrolink's fleet of trams and its system are both, at the time of writing, the largest in the UK. Image

One of several blocks of shops in this part of Hollyhedge Road. From left to right:- Shell-Lose, tanning & beauty saloon at No. 175, Allison's Bakery at No. 177 and Fostering Solutions - Wythenshawe, an independent fostering provider, at No. 179. Since this photograph was taken, Shell-Lose appears to have left No. 175, which is currently occupied by a tattoo & piercing studio. The road is on the line of the Manchester Metrolink to Manchester Airport and one of the tram tracks can be seen running in the road.

This tram, which was delivered to Metrolink on the 22nd November 2014 and entered service on the 3rd December, is passing some shops in Hollyhedge Road. It is en route to Cornbrook, which at the time this photograph was taken was the city centre terminus for the Manchester Airport line. It is one of the current fleet of 120 M5000 class trams built by Bombardier and delivered between 2009 and 2016.
