36-38 Whitworth Street, Manchester
Aka Regency House. Handsome former warehouse, built c1880. The designers were sparing with ornament, relying more on the proportions and the regularity of the grid-like facade. But it has quite a grand doorcase with segmental pediment and framed by paired brackets. Grade II listed. See also Image

Detail of 36-38 Whitworth Street, Manchester
In one bay of this otherwise fairly plain Victorian warehouse is a flurry of decorative detail - anthemion and palmette frieze and semi-fluted square pillars with faces in the capitals. Conventional Classical motifs but in their execution not adhering to Classical rules. Full view here: Image
