The majestic former main building of the Municipal School of Technology, by Spalding & Cross, 1895-1912, in a Loire style. Very tall with ornate gables, emphatic centrepiece (Image]), all in brick, red stone and Burmantofts terracotta carved panels (Image]). Grade II listed. Currently used by the new, improved University of Manchester which resulted from the merger of the old UoM and UMIST.
