Metrolink Work outside the Imperial War Museum North
Roadworks on Trafford Wharf Road, between the RHM factory and IWMN, in preparation for the Metrolink extension to the Trafford Centre.
The 5½ km extension will run from the existing Pomona Metrolink stop, through Trafford Park, Europe’s largest trading estate, terminating at the Trafford Centre and will have six new tram stops (https://tfgm.com/maps/trafford-park-line-route route map) including one at the Imperial War Museum.
Construction work began in late 2016 and services are expected to launch in 2020.
As well as the all the usual tramway infrastructure, such as tracks, stops, and equipment to hold the overhead lines that power the trams, major works will also take place to divert utility services, such as water, gas, electricity and telecommunications, away from the tram route.

Quay West, Trafford Wharf
Undoubtedly one of the best known buildings in the area, Quay West is a large, distinctive shiny office block opposite the Lowry Bridge and the Lowry Arts Centre. When first built, it was regarded as an icon of Salford Quays although, being on the opposite bank of the Manchester Ship Canal, it is actually in Trafford!
