Textiles in refurbished Whitworth Gallery
The gallery has a large collection of textiles. Here they are displayed in part of the original gallery, refurbished and made more open, fewer textiles displayed at a time but more space around them. As well as these textile samples in one case, another had a large notice "Who made my clothes" with campaigning T-shirts, slogans like "Pay living wage now".

Staircase in Whitworth Art Gallery
The staircase with decorative iron balustrade leads from the ground floor to the Grand Hall on the first floor. It is part of the original gallery, and has been refurbished as part of the recent extension.There is also a mezzanine floor, reached by separate staircases.

Whitworth Art Gallery, Oxford Road, Manchester
By J.W. Beaumont, from 1894, after an architectural competition. Broadly neo-Jacobean in style, and very red (much more so when the sun shines Image]). The main accents are the pair of towers topped by pinnacles and pyramidal roofs. Grade II listed.
Now part of the University of Manchester.
