Wilmslow Road
The B5117 through Rusholme's "Curry Mile".
The former Huntsman Inn Image on the right was originally a Hardy's Crown Brewery and later a Bass house. Reports suggest it was bit "rough" and it closed unexpectedly in 2011. Some restoration work appears to be now taking place.

Rusholme, Hardy's Well
Victorian pub at the junction of Wilmslow & Dickenson Roads; rectangular, internally open-plan, with bar at back right & variety of seating areas. Note mosaic name at roof level. Hardy's Well
The A6010 turns right here into Dickenson Road. Ahead is the B5117 Wilmslow Road, known as the Curry Mile. On the corner is Hardy's Well.
Dating from at least 1837 and originally known as the Birch Villas it was renamed after the Hardy's Crown Brewery of Hulme. On the gable end it carries a poem by Lemn Sissay painted in the 1990s as the first of his Landmark Poetics http://www.lemnsissaylandmarks.com/?p=104 It was owned by Enterprise Inns before closing in 2016, Original plans by the new owners involved demolishing the pub and building a new six storey apartment block containing 26 flats and ground-floor shops. Now it seems the old frontage will be kept and the poem will find itself on an inside wall.
