The Holy Trinity Armenian Church in Upper Brook Street
Manchester's Holy Trinity Armenian Church was the first purpose-built Armenian church in Western Europe and is the oldest Armenian church in the entire of the UK as it was built and consecrated in 1870. It is also the only Armenian Church north of London, where there are two churches, St. Sarkis and St. Yeghishe. The first Armenians settled in Manchester in 1835 as silk merchants. By 1862, it is estimated that there were thirty Armenian businesses in the city.
