The way we live now
This is 3 Dale street, a grade II listed building. Only the exterior is unchanged - the basement has been converted into a car park, which is accessed by this car lift behind what used to be the warehouse doors. The rest of the building is apartments.

Methodist Central Hall, Oldham Street, Manchester
By George Woodhouse, 1885-86, but mostly rebuilt after being bombed during the Second World War. Pevsner regarded the stone exterior as "undistinguished", but the site "important historically as the centre of Manchester Methodism from which a large and well-organised social services mission spread during the C19 and earlier C20."

6-12 Oldham Street, Manchester
"Shabbily grand" wrote Pevsner. The usual scruffy shopfronts at street level, but above is a Doric colonnade and an Art Deco-ish stepped parapet.

Oldham Street
Following a recent fire Image the bottom end of Oldham Street was still cordoned off. Buses that normally stop there were using Stevenson Square. Afflecks Image were selling off smoke-damaged clothing.
