Manchester Flower Show Jubilee Trail#3, Queen of Pop
The Manchester Flower Show was an annual fixture in Platt Fields Park dating back to the 1950s and ran until 2003. Following a 15 year hiatus, it was resurrected and moved to the city centre as part of the King Street Festival in 2018, and as a standalone event in 2021 as the city emerged from the coronavirus lockdown. The 2022 show coincided with the 4-day national celebrations to mark HM Queen’s Platinum Jubilee; 10 professionally designed displays were created as a “Jubilee Trail” in the retail district of Manchester city centre to mark the monarch’s 70 years on the throne. Queen of Pop at New Cathedral Street was designed by Crafthouse Creations, inspired by Andy Warhol’s 1960’s pop-art portraits of Her Majesty.
