The Leighton Buzzard Battery
This building off South Street houses a large array of Lithium Ion battery cells providing a capacity of 6 megawatts. The battery is used to cover peaks in electricity demand locally without having to use electricity from other areas. The battery was installed as an experiment in 2013 and at the time was the largest such installation in Europe.
