The Lake, Gledhow Valley Woods, Leeds
This was part of the landscaping of the Gledhow Hall parkland, but was altered in the 1950s to provide flood attenuation, hence the elaborate outlet weir and screens. The bay and screen in this image puzzles me - is it an inlet or an outlet?

Gledhow Valley Lake
The former boating lake was designed in serpentine fashion so that one end could not be seen from the other. It is now a rather unattractive, dirty body of water that serves for attracting water birds and balancing floods.
