St Martin's Institute
Rather grander than your average church hall, the Institute was erected in 1902 opposite the church, architect Percy Robinson. It is on two levels: the grade II listing (list entry 1256155) says the upper level is 'reputed to contain a ballroom with stage and balcony'. I can confirm that, having attended a barn dance here. See Image for a view of the other side of the building.

Lock-up garages, Chapel Road
A relatively modern and substantial example of the type, with stone wall (possibly only a cladding to concrete) and slate roof.

West end of St Martin's church, Potternewton
A Church of England building, erected in 1879-81, architects Richard Adams and John Kelly. The tower seen here was added in 1898 but never completed, resulting in a rather squat appearance. Listed grade II (list entry 1256154).
