Due to the sloping site these are single-storey dwellings viewed from the rear (although the actual 'front' doors are off this path) but the side of each house facing Gilbert Close has a garage underneath.

I think this used to be a block of council flats. Within the past 3 or 4 years it has been refurbished and opened as a privately-run student hall of residence.

The side road off Commercial Road leads to a former mill, now a small business centre. The junction has been widened since 2006, apparently with the loss of several mature horse chestnut trees Image
