Formerly known as Woodsley House, this is where Queen Victoria stayed when she came to open Leeds Town Hall in 1858 - it was then the home of Peter Fairbairn, mayor of Leeds

Fairbairn House, Clarendon Road, Leeds
This grade II listed building (list entry 1375096) dates from 1840, with later additions. It was originally called Woodsley House but has been renamed at some point after one of its former owners, Peter Fairbairn. According to the listing its architect was "probably" R D Chantrell and it has had various uses including as a family home, vicarage, nursing home, Leeds Clergy School, University hall of residence, conference centre, more recently clinical research centre Image and currently houses the National Centre for Atmospheric Science.
