Leeds: Vicar Lane
Vicar Lane carries very heavy bus traffic (the alternative, Briggate, is now pedestrianised), so the view of the Market Hall is often obscured.

Kirkgate Market, Leeds.
This picture shows mostly the new section of the market. New because it burned down in the seventies. Leeds Kirkgate Market is the largest indoor market in Europe (apparently). Looking down from the top floor of York Street car park.

City Market, Kirkgate, Leeds
A lavish display, particularly in the skyline which is plastered with domes, gables, towers, and finials (Image]). Pevsner describes the style as Flemish. By John & Joseph Leeming, 1904, and refurbished by Povall Worthington, 1992. Grade I listed.

Kirkgate Market Leeds
Rear aspect. The 1975 fire destroyed much of the old character (front, near of photo). http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Leeds_Kirkgate_Market A traditional Leeds 'delicacy' can still be enjoyed here:- Hot Pork Pie with Mushy Peas and Mint Sauce. Once tried it is habit-forming.
