Old milestone
On Harewood Road at the west end of Collingham is the seventh West Riding CC milestone from Tadcaster. This one has been very crudely painted, the legends are not sharp and some are incorrect. On the left face HAREWOOD/4 MILES/ OTLEY 12¼ MILES was cast. The legends on the right face were cast as WETHERBY/2¼ MILES/BOSTON/3/TADCASTER/7 MILES. And look at TADCASTER on the top! It is Grade II listed 1225896 so deserves better treatment than this.

Old milestone
Looking westwards along the A639. When these milestones were set up for the WRCC in 1893/94 the good quality stone which was sourced from a quarry in Kirkstall was not painted. But at some time in the last 100+ years many of the stones were painted, white, black or grey.
