St Peter's church, Rawdon - south side
Rawdon as a settlement dates back at least as far as Norman times, but the first church was only built, as a chapel of ease, in the 17th century from a bequest by Francis Layton (the bells bear the inscription “The gift of Francis Layton esq 1661"), and consecrated on 4 May 1684. The oldest part of the present church is the tower, dated 1706 (but possibly earlier); the remainder is late 19th century. Listed grade 2 (list entry 1135590).
