Horsforth Library, Town Street
The modern part of the building nearest the camera has been Horsforth Library, but became too small. So a new building has been built behind it, and the Library now occupies that and part of the older building (the Mechanics Institute). The new library opened in February 2006.
Looking north along Town Street towards the junction with Church Lane.

From the junction with Town Street, two old-established Horsforth businesses: on the corner, Stott's Coffee Shop (formerly a hardware store). Behind it along Kerry Street is Facer's (printers).

Town Street, Horsforth
Looking north-east towards the junction of Broadgate Lane (formerly South Broadgate Lane) on the right. Of interest here is the barber's shop, which has been a barber's for at least 68 years. In the war years as a boy, I used to get my hair cut there - cost, sixpence (that's 2.5p in new money!). The barber was a Mr Fawcett. He used hand clippers, and if you did not behave well, he gave you a nasty clip on the neck!
