Arthington: The 'New Inn'
An excellent example of how a country pub should be run. A wide selection of real ales in first-class fettle, a good range of food very nicely cooked, and quite a few locals in for a lunchtime pint, friendly smart and efficient staff. If more pubs has been like this, perhaps there would have been fewer closures.

The New Inn, Eccup Lane
The pub was closed at this time due to the Covid-19 restrictions, but it gets a good review from one of our other contributors Image so I hope it reopens.

Eccup, New Inn PH
According to the 1908 OS map there was a benchmark cut into north-west face of the pub. Nothing was found. Since the mark was cut the pub has gained a large entrance porch and may have hidden any cutmark.

Sheep in a field by Eccup Lane
They are grazing flat land near the top of the scarp slope of Wharfedale. The Dales Way link passes along the far edge of their field.
