Many of the leaves had been blown away by a stormy week at the end of October leaving the bunches of seed pods at the end of each branch more clearly visible.

Storm clouds over west Leeds
The storm clouds were threatening, and indeed we had thunder and heavy rain here shortly afterwards, but earlier they had created a heavy hailstorm further west around Guiseley.
