How long is a football pitch?
A "football pitch" is often quoted as a standard unit of area, suggesting they are all the same size, but it ain't necessarily so. Look at the four pitches here above Bramley Fall woods on an aerial photo and the length between goals is respectively 100, 75, 110 and 55 yards. Looking at the Football Association's website, 110yds is standard for adult games and 100yds for under-16s, but 55 and 75 are non-standard sizes (80yds is for under-12s and 60yds for under-10s).
