8 Park Square, Leeds
The grandest house in the square, built c1790 to the designs of either William Hargrave or William Lawrance. The projecting central bays are topped by a pediment containing an oculus, and the doorcase has an open pediment with a festoon. Grade II listed. The Georgian proportions are spoiled somewhat by the later plate-glass windows. Comparison with a building with its original sashes is instructive in demonstrating the importance of window proportions in Georgian architecture (e.g. Image]).
