OTE, Springwell Road, Holbeck
OTE produce energy drinks and foods for sportspeople.
This building must be quite new as it is not the one seen on aerial photography from a few years ago. The site was originally part of the Whitehall Road railway goods yard.

This former flax mill dates from 1827 according to one website, although the date on the entrance arch is 1874. Peter Cassidy, Holbeck Lane
Peter Cassidy originated in Hull in 1921; their Leeds business opened in 1961. They make and test lifting equipment.
Of perhaps greater interest is the street to the left, Low Hall Place; a Leeds City Council document on the Holbeck Conservation Area says that this setted street that now leads into a private yard is the remains of a pre-1600 route and therefore one of the oldest roads in the city. The Hol Beck flows in a culvert under the gates of Cassidy's yard and the street in front.

Springwell Road bridge
This bridge carries the road over the Hol Beck. The beck's natural course has been culverted for about 3km under the industrial areas of South Leeds - see
Image for near the other end of this long culvert, where it is called the Wortley Beck. Peak flows are attenuated by Farnley balancing reservoir a further 3km upstream, nevertheless recent flood alleviation work has raised the wall of the channel along Water Lane. Note the depth gauge at the left, covering a range from 1.0 to 3.5 metres; to the right of the gauge is a former culvert outfall now plugged with concrete.
