Steep Hill (lower), Lincoln
The lower part of Steep Hill; the reason for its name is obvious. The bollards prevent motor vehicles from accessing this part of Steep Hill, though I cannot imagine trying to drive up or down a slope that steep would be enjoyable. Walking along it is difficult in either direction, hence the handrail.

Cast iron water pump, Well Lane, Lincoln
Grade II Listed 19th century cast-iron pump. M J Jones Sources of Effluence: Water through Roman Lincoln makes reference to the hill of Lincoln being “riddled with springs”. According to the Stamford Mercury in October 1845, St Michaels Well was dangerous and was bricked over. This pump was then the fourth pump set up apparently over St Michaels Well by Lincoln Corporation with spout opening to front, stump of handle to right. The pump was restored late in the 20th century.
