Llanfaes Estate - demolition of the prefabricated residences
These small, pre-fabricated cottages were built in about 1947, immediately next to the Saunders-Roe facility. My Great-grandparents, Victor Percival Mills (1921-1974) and Annie Smith (1921-) lived at number 3, until around 1964 when the houses were demolished and replaced with more substantial housing-estate-style houses. That process can be seen here. Date, photographer location and view direction are approximate.

The empty hangars of the former Saunders-Roe plant seen from the grounds of Henllys Hall
The SARO plant at Fryars was set up during WW2 when it was engaged in building seaplanes, especially Catalinas (399 in all). After the war production change to manufacturing MTBs. (Motor Torpedo Boats). Time was when photographing this factory would have led to a term in one of HM's Prisons. http://www.bmpt.org.uk/boat%20histories/Dark%20Class/index.htm
