The waste tips of the Penrhyn Quarry
The once familiar sound of waste being dumped down the sides of the tips - now alas absent from most of the Arfon Slate Belt - can be heard in this part of the Ogwen Valley, even on a Saturday morning. The Penrhyn Quarry owned for two centuries by the Penrhyn family of Penrhyn Castle, was purchased by Alfred McAlpine in 1964. Recently, it was sold to an Irish company - Ringcycle owned by the Lisburn-based construction chief Peter Lagan.

Concrete abutment on bank of Afon Galedffwrd in Parc yr Ocar, Mynydd Llandegai
This concrete abutment and its partner on the opposite side of the river supported pipes carrying water to the hydro-electric system of the former mill at Felin Fawr.
