Ffestiniog Railway restoration at Tanygrisiau
Looking towards Ffestiniog along the shelf alignment of the FR above the village. Such construction was necessary to ensure a continuous downhill gradient from the quarries at Ffestiniog to the sea wharves at Porthmadog. In this early days of the railway this enabled loaded downhill trains to powered by gravity alone. The empties would then be hauled back uphill by horses. In this 1976 picture the bridge to upper Tanygrisiau had been removed and was yet to be re-instated. New trackwork can be seen on the other side of the gap heading towards Ffestiniog.

Bedford CA Utilibrake
This Bedford CA Utilbrake belonged to our family business. I used to drive it regularly from Walsall to my parents' holiday home in Tanygrisiau with family and friends piled in.
