Train at Tywyn Railway Station, Gwynedd
This is the train, from Pwllheli, to Birmingham International. The Cambrian Coastline portion of the journey is stunning.

Tywyn Station
Also described in BR literature as 'Towyn' Station, viewed from footbridge over station platforms, station master awaits arrival of train (in background) from Pwllheli.
The station, with 2 platforms, was a passing point for the passenger services, the next passing points being Barmouth (to the north) and Machynlleth (to the south). There may be passing points at Dovey Junction today (?), but in the 70s track layouts, signalling and technology did not allow it.

Tywyn Wharf railway station
Opened in 1866 as King's station on the narrow gauge Talyllyn Railway line, this was a goods station that served as a place for transhipment of slates from the narrow gauge to the adjacent Cambrian Railway main line. This later opened as a passenger station around 1911 as Towyn Wharf, later renamed to Tywyn Wharf in 1975. The Narrow Gauge Railway Museum is housed in the building, and has been at the station since 1955.

Waiting to cross
Waiting for a late running Pwllheli bound train to come off the single line at Tywyn. The total delay was some 20 minutes. Not unusual on this line, usually caused by 'knock on' delays on the 'main line' from Machynlleth to Birmingham.

Cambrian Coast Railway, Tywyn
Looking from Neptune Road bridge towards Tywyn station. This is the only passing loop on the single line between Dovey Junction and Barmouth. From this perspective the platform lights at the station seem somewhat out of scale.
