Llangollen Mooring Basin
What a difference a couple of warmer days make. The mooring basin is as busy as you would expect it at the end of March. Image] Image] Image] One boat arrived before the snow and has been trapped with fallen trees along the canal since then. The pontoons are weighed down with the snow and are held firmly in the ice as there is no water flow in the basin. Image] Image]

Llangollen mooring basin
The Shropshire Union Canal (Llangollen Branch) terminates at the Llangollen mooring basin. Middle of winter with the power and water turned off, most boats are moored on the canal where the utilities are all working.

Canal marina near Llangollen in Denbighshire
Mooring space for visitors is limited near the very popular destination of Llangollen. Mooring for a few hours during the day is free, but a £6 per night charge is imposed if crews stay beyond 16:00. This charge also entitles visitors to moor overnight here in this spacious basin, which has space for about 32 boats.
