The river has begun its circuit of a hard outcrop of rock. It will go through a full 360 degrees in the next 2km.

The lane to Corwen and a bridleway
The lane to Corwen on the right was the main road north of the river before the A5 Toll Road was built in the early 19th Century. It was still used a lot after this by people who couldn't or wouldn't pay the toll. The bridleway to the left takes a different route beside the river but they rejoin after 1km. The bridleway appears to be a "road" but it is an access road to Groeslwyd only and is closed to traffic apart from horses and walkers. Image]

Tree trimming around power lines
Trees and overhead power cables do not mix. There are two main problems, damage if trees fall or rest against cables, and the earthing of live cables. In North Wales Scottish Power Networks employ contractors to keep the cables free of problems. A by-product of this activity is the supply of fuel for wood burning stoves as the cut down timber is the property of the land owner or tenant and is left on site. http://www.spenergynetworks.co.uk/contact/

New fence at D?l Fawr
Fencing is a fundamental part of grazing control and animal husbandry, it keeps groups of animals together, stops random mating taking place, and is a means of grassland management. It is important that fences are maintained and renewed if necessary. Lamb prices are high at present (2011/12) and it is good to see lots of fencing being undertaken locally.
