Prestatyn Weather Station
In a fenced enclosure set back from Bastion Road. The white box on a stand is a Stevenson Screen, designed to shield meteorological instruments against precipitation and direct radiation from outside sources, while still allowing air to circulate freely inside. It thus provides a standardised environment, allowing the readings to be compared with those taken in similar conditions elsewhere. Behind the screen is a rain gauge.
If this is a standard weather station, daily readings at taken here at 9am (10am during British Summer Time). Standard averages of air temperature, humidity and precipitation are based on 30 years of data.

Last finger post on my Offa's Dyke walk, Prestatyn
And what an excellent 182 miles. I've been lucky with fine weather and good company; doing the Offa's Dyke Path in stages of a few days each May (since 2006), and with bluebells, hawthorn and gorse to brighten the way. Whatever the reason, of the many long distance paths I've walked in the UK, this has definitely been the best.
