This footpath was once an access road to the nearby quarry and has not been used for many years. It is now a footpath between the encroaching trees and bushes.

Site of the Limestone Quarry
This closed quarry is slowly being taken over by nature, the birch trees in the foreground are growing on 50mm limestone aggregate, the stream flowing under the bridge looks as if it has been there for ever, but those big stones are far too neat! Up on the nearby rock face I could hear a buzzard chick calling to its parent who was circling round keeping an eye on me.

Footbridge over the quarry stream
I wonder if this stream was under the limestone originally?
