The upper end of Main Street, Great Dalby
The Royal Oak http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/2555310 on the right hand side. The single storey cottage opposite is named Pound House - probably not a reference to its value, but rather to the existence at one time of an animal pound. The main road to Market Harborough (B 6047) makes a sharp left turn at the top of the hill.

Clearly restored as a Millennium project in 2000, although it is unclear how much of the original actually remains. On the green at Upper End.

The Royal Oak at Great Dalby
Not quite as old as the timber framing might suggest, it dates basically from the mid-18th century, although with later addition. Listed Grade II, at the time of the listing it was still sporting a corrugated iron covering to the thatch, which has since been restored. Note the decorative bird, possibly and owl, on the ridge.
