The exposed root of a beech tree
The most northern path down from Bowling Fell to Garth Heads runs slantwise across an overgrown outcrop of limestone. There are a number of large trees that have managed to grow here. This shows an exposed root of one finding its way round a large rock.

Looking down one of the three paths from Bowling Fell to Garth Heads
There are three paths joining Bowling Fell with Garth Heads. This is the northern one. It runs down and across the steep slope. The other two paths have steps, but this one has just the occasional step.
