Heversham - Milnthorpe boundary stone
That could be why 'H' and 'M' are carved on it? Good one, Sherlock! Neglected and overgrown by the A6, it seems the parishioners of Heversham and Milnthorpe don't care where one ends and the other starts anymore.

Milestone north of Milnthorpe
'Westmorland County Council 1910' and in very good nick - maybe it had a centenary paint job in 2010? Pity they couldn't have done up the boundary stone just along the road too. As I took this photo I was half a mile from Milnthorpe and 7 miles from Kendal.

Cast iron post by the A6, in parish of HEVERSHAM (SOUTH LAKELAND District), Haverflatts, opposite entrance drive to St Anthony's House, by hedge on narrow verge, on East side of road. WCC iron casting, erected by the County Council in the 20th century.

Heversham: near site of former station
View SW towards Arnside from the A6 road just south of Heversham village. The station had been off to the left and was on the ex-Furness Railway Arnside - Hincaster Junction loop line, which survived for goods until 1963-71 although passenger services ceased from 4/5/42. The River Kent estuary is off to the right.
