The Market Cross, old base and steps in a new cross, by the wayside, in parish of Austwick (Craven District), The Green, opposite the church, base to Market Cross and Pillar.
Carved bench mark and rivet on base step.
Grade II listed.

Rivet bench mark on Austwick cross
Although the rivet is in the sun the arrow head is in the shade and as the mark is on the north face it would need a very early or very late mid-summer visit to get the sun angled across the face - this photo was taken at 4pm. Austwick market cross and signpost
Only the base remains of the mediaeval market cross; the pillar itself is a replica from the 1830s. Nevertheless it is grade 2 listed (list entry 1180079). See also Image Next to it is a signpost of the form familiar in the Dales, pointing three ways to Settle, Clapham and Horton.
