Laura Ashley Belsfield Hotel in Bowness-on-Windermere
3-storey Kendal Road hotel in a prominent position overlooking Windermere from a hilltop,
viewed across the A592 Promenade. Built as an Italianate style mansion in the early 19th century.
Grade II listed in 1973. The hotel's website states that there are 62 guest bedrooms,
including 25 Lake View bedrooms and 12 Garden View bedrooms.

Laura Ashley The Belsfield Hotel, Bowness-on-Windermere
The facade retains the name prior to joining the Laura Ashley group of hotels in 2012. Built in 1845 as a private residence for the Baroness Von Sternberg, the house was acquired by the steel magnate Henry Schnieder in 1869 and converted to a hotel in 1892 and extended to provide additional bedrooms shortly before the First World War. The former access to the road is now blocked by a locked gate and a strategically placed seat.
