Old Boundary Marker on Coulston Road, Lancaster
War Department Boundary Marker set semi-sunken in a stone wall on the northwest side of Coulston Road, Lancaster. Formerly inscribed W ↑ D / No 18 but has been effaced. It marked the boundary of the former Bowerham Barracks (King's Own Royal Regiment, c.1873 to 1959), now a campus of the University of Cumbria.

Old Boundary Marker on the University of Cumbria campus
War Department Boundary Marker set semi-sunken in a stone wall in the inside of the former barracks boundary. Thought to have been inscribed W ↑ D / No 17 but has been effaced and moved. It marked the boundary of the former Bowerham Barracks (King's Own Royal Regiment, c.1873 to 1959), now a campus of the University of Cumbria.

Grumpy climbs the hill ? 1978
In July 1978 Lancaster City Transport celebrated its 75th anniversary with a parade of buses based on the Hornsea Pottery site. It used some of its open-top buses – normally used on the Morecambe sea front – to provide a special service between the pottery site and the city centre. The open-top buses were all named after the dwarves from Snow White.
'Grumpy' is a Leyland PD2 with East Lancs bodywork which was new in 1963 and converted to open-top in 1977. It is seen here climbing Wyresdale Road to its junction with Coulston Road.

OS cut bench mark from the 20th century levelling, on wall on Wyresdale Road. 78.54 m above datum. This may replace an earlier BM on a now-vanished building almost opposite. There is another earlier BM a little way down the hill (Image).
